Civility: The Smart Practice CLEDate: Friday, September 26, 2025
Time: 12:00 - 1:30 p.m.
Location: Hybrid (Law Society of PEI Education & Resource Centre - 119 Kent St, Suite 300 - and Virtual)
We are launching this year’s Continuing Legal Education calendar with Part 1 of a two-part series on civility in the legal profession.
Civility is more than just manners—it’s smart. It’s what judges notice, clients value, and colleagues respect. When civility breaks down, the ripple effects can harm your cases, your reputation, and even confidence in the justice system itself. Join presenters Mary Lynn Kane, K.C., and Lynn Murray, K.C. for Civility: The Smart Practice to explore civility as both a regulatory obligation and a professional advantage.
Through the lens of the Code of Professional Conduct, real court decisions, and regulator and practitioner insights, you’ll learn how to:
- Recognize where zealous advocacy ends and incivility begins
- Protect your reputation while advancing your clients’ interests
- Apply practical tips and tools to reduce unnecessary conflict and stress in your practice
Part 2 of our civility series—Dealing with Difficult People—will take place in December, led by Bena Stock and Mary Lynn Kane, K.C. More details to come.
